Visit to MSC innovation centre

They provides training and help to IT knowledge worker and Multimedia development for Malaysia. Bridging the gap between Institute of Higher Learning and industry(What they said).

Virtual Reality centre. Three special coated white screens. Three big bulky projectors for the left right and centre portions of the circular screen surface. 90Hz refresh rates projectors. Special computers with 4 graphic cards(2GB memory) as big as a motherboard.

I thought it would be a 3D experience with the active stereographic glasses(actively close and open for left and right glasses according to the signal it received). Instead the demonstrator sit on a special armchair with the controllers and lead us through the virtual Putrajaya city. Fly up fly down. Speeding. Good for city planning and disaster evacuation. Even has the simulation of rising water level. Though not accurately calculated. Similar to something like Google Earth which can be rendered with normal pc =.=

And show us the flight simulator and virtual autopsy. Can see the bones broken etc. And lastly is the Saladin trailer. Everything from character design and storyboard is done by Malaysian. Not bad. The faces of people is polygon style like the ice age movie. What's really matters is the storyline though realistic graphic is a plus. Ahem ahem Wall-E.

time: 9.30am-4.30pm
location: Cyberjaya

Learnt a lot about the company. So they use Oracle and MS SQL database. C++ and J2EE. Windows and UNIX-like system. They have their own propriety Unix OS called HP-UX. Uh huh.

Talk about the expansion in Cyberjaya and the company footprint in many places in Malaysia and overseas. Able to keep improving oneself and request for training etc. Should be able to work at other country if join these MNC.

And talk about data centre at US(if still remember correctly), the size of 20(?) football fields. Toink.

What they did in Cyberjaya is to develop the application system and improve/update the system for HP. Mostly about the management and resource flow worldwide. User requirements come from HP people from the whole world. And work in a team.

They even have a ping pong table and darts there. Work hard play hard. Multinational corporation(MNC) style.

Attitute

Lecturer asked me to go assist him on the mid term test. Alright no problem.

Rush to dinner and then rush back to the COIT. No people can be seen at the exam hall. Called him. Time changed. Said that he pasted the information on his room door. Argghhh...

Worse is the project. Too many unknown. If I were going to develop system for the rural area, have to go into forest and interview? Might as well change my system scope.
